Would You Like To Pee in Peace?
Welcome to where you finally fit in. Welcome to Peeing in Peace - the perfect play-date for your purse. Between the pages of this book, you will find your community, your confidantes, and often times, co-conspirators.
Since we’re going to be spending some quality time together, allow us to introduce ourselves. We are Beth Feldman and Yvette Corporon, two working mothers who are the creators of Role Mommy, an online community and virtual coffee klatch for today’s busy moms.
“What is a Role Mommy?,” you ask. If you never thought you were a role model, think again. We believe that every working mother is a role model for other working moms. She’s an inspiration, a source of advice, a springboard for ideas, a confidante to laugh with and a reality check to remind us that we are certainly not alone.
Remember, there’s strength in numbers and if we just stick together, there isn’t a diaper, dilemma or deadline we can’t overcome. So put the kids to bed, grab a glass of wine, enjoy the quiet and dive in.
OUR LIVES AS WORKING MOMS B.C (BEFORE CHILDREN) And A.D. (AFTER DIAPERS)
AFTERNOON DELIGHT
B.C. About 3 pm on a rainy Sunday afternoon. You and your husband, boyfriend, lover, whatever, roll over lazily and enjoy another roll in the hay. You then light up a cigarette while you walk buck-naked to the kitchen to pour yourselves yet another round of Bloody Marys before you get back to reading the New York Times cover to cover.
A.D. About 3 pm on a rainy Sunday afternoon when your colicky baby, who’s been up since 5 am, finally goes down for a nap. Your preschooler is at her friend’s house for a play-date and your server is being serviced so you can’t send or receive any emails. You and your husband excitedly race to the bedroom, close the blinds, unplug the phone, jump into bed and have the best, most intense, satisfying and earth shattering nap either one of you have ever experienced.
BLACKBERRY
B.C. The delicious tart fruit you’d pick as you meander down a secluded dirt path while vacationing in the mountains. BlackBerry™
A.D. The addictive electronic device that enables you to return to that favorite vacation spot along with your kids and still be plugged into civilization as you respond to a litany of emails sent by your boss, co-workers, spammers, friends and potential clients. One problem…difficult to pick a blackberry and send a message from one at the same time.
PARTY ANIMAL
B.C. You, during happy hour B.C....as you downed jello shots, flirted with inappropriate men and danced on tabletops.
A.D. The mangy rodent you paid some guy an obscene amount of money to entertain the troops at your child’s birthday party. But all that over-priced hairball does is make the kids cry and pee on your living room rug.
Beth Feldman is the Vice President of the CBS Communications Group, the co-founder of Role Mommy, the co-author of Peeing in Peace and the mother of 2.
