Fewer Taking Unpaid Maternity Leaves During Recession.

ABC News’ Good Morning America recently reported that in response to the economic downturn, moms of newborns are scaling back on the amount of unpaid maternity leave they’re taking. “. . . [I]n an informal online questionnaire by Working Mother Magazine, about one-third of respondents said the recession was affecting their decision to take unpaid maternity leave,” wrote ABC’s Kate Snow and Susan Kriskey.

“The issue for women these days is they are increasingly bigger financial supporters of their family,” Carol Evans, founder/CEO of Working Mother Media told them. (June 2009)
