Keep a nail file in your car. As those manicures seem to go out the window when kids arrive, keep up at red lights.

I label whenever possible, that way anyone that might need to know where something goes (i.e. housecleaning day) doesn't interrupt my cleaning project asking for instructions. Also, we try to do "zone defense" with our kids. Each of us have a room that we're responsible to put away clutter and spot clean each evening during a 10 min. "zone defense" yell.

Stop and breathe. When things seem to pile up and the hamster in your mind won't get off the wheel. Stop, close your eyes, and take a deep breathe (or 10 deep breaths). It usually clears my mind and focuses me on the task at hand.

Stop folding clothes. It's an overrated task (at least for kids clothes). I have 3 large drawers for each kid: bottoms, tops, and undergarments (socks/underwear). My kids end up pulling everything out searching for the item they want. Then they stuff it back in anyway. You could easily get a massage (or drink a cup of coffee) during the time you would spend folding clothes.

I read a story once about a professor who had students put rocks into a glass until they pronounced it full. "It's full?" he said, and then had them pour in sand. Again, the students said it was full. "It's full?" the professor asked, and handed them a bottle of water. Make time for the most important things, then keep filling in around them.

If you wear glasses, take them off so you can't see the dirt. It works for me.

Don't bother cleaning the house. It is satisfying, but doesn't last long enough to be worth the effort. Invest in a maid service, even if only once a month

Sometimes, a baby cries because it's tired, and it won't stop until you set it down and walk away. So learn to set things down that you can't fix, and focus on the things you can fix.
