Yes, Sarah Palin Has A Vagina.

I was supposed to be taking this week off from Mommy Track'd – you know, Labor Day and all – but then John McCain went and insulted me, and I’m just not the type who can take an insult lying down. So here I am, laboring away at my computer on a holiday weekend.

I watched the Democratic National Convention this past week with tears in my eyes almost the whole time. The first night, when Ted Kennedy spoke, I cried because of his strength, and his determination, but also because of his frailty, and the inescapable fact that one day soon, he and everything that he represents as a Kennedy, will be just another chapter of history. On the second night, when Hillary gave the speech of her career, I cried because of her grace, and because of an opportunity lost, and because of all that could have been. The next night, when Joe Biden took the stage, I cried for his tragedy, but I also cried for his triumphs. His love for and commitment to his children, his dedication to his constituency, and the sheer joy in his face as he reveled in the moment that he so clearly has always wanted. And then, on Thursday, when Barack Obama accepted the nomination, and delivered the speech that one commentator called “a symphony,” I cried for myself, and for every person in America who thought they would never live to see this day. But I also cried because of what he said, and how he said it, and how inspired it made me feel, and because I really do believe that he can change America, for the better. And at the end, when his family joined him on stage, and they looked just like a modern-day version of Camelot; when I realized that the Kennedy-era might not be coming to a close after all, but is instead being updated and reinvented for the times we live in now; when it all seemed to come full-circle…well, of course, I cried some more. And then I woke up Friday morning, and I saw that John McCain had picked Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, to be his running mate. And I laughed.

It makes sense why John McCain would pick a woman for a running mate. For one thing, it allows him to have a “historical” campaign, too. And of course, if you’re going to try to go after all of those still-undecided, bitter, Hillary Clinton supporters, what better way to woo them than with another woman who can fulfill the dream they thought they’d lost? But for me, that’s where the logic ends. Because the only thing that Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton have in common is that they both have vaginas. I mean, is John McCain serious? He thinks he can woo Hillary voters with a pro-life, gun-toting, anti-gay hockey mom whose political resume includes the PTA? Please. If John McCain really wanted to make history, there were a lot of women he could have chosen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson, of Texas. Christine Todd Whitman, of New Jersey. Even Carly Fiorina of Hewlett Packard or Meg Whitman of e-Bay would have been better choices. But instead, he chose a woman who couldn’t be less experienced. He chose a woman whom nobody has heard of. He chose a woman whom many will find it difficult to take seriously in an international, or even a national, arena.

I find it amusing that you 'laugh' at Palin's 'lack of experience' when Obama is even less qualified than she is, and he's running for President, not VP.

And I never thought McCain was trying to woo Hillary supporters by choosing a woman for his VP. Call me naive but considering they're opposites on issues, why would anyone think Hillary supporters would switch tickets? Especially people whose lives revolve around politics.

I hear you on the whole 'woman in office' issue, but I've never been pro-female anything. I say if someone's qualified and has the determination, then they're probably right for the job. I don't really care if they're male/female/black/white/red/brown/yellow/muslim/christian/pagan/whatever. I think it's past time to move on from all of that.

You would rather have a woman for President whose husband has cheated on her for 16 years? THAT is the kind of example we want to give our daughters? "Yes dear, I know he had sex with other women but if he can get you the power you want, grit your teeth and deal with it." I said it when the whole ML thing came out, she will run for President and I was laughed at. I knew darn well that was why she was staying with the louse. And that is the woman that you cry over not receiving the nomination?

Obama's campaign has gone after a woman who has had more political experience than he has and claim she is not ready. He is running for President talk about the pot calling the kettle black!!!

I know that abortion is murder. You have the right to choose NOT to have sex. You make that choice and get pregnant, you have given up the right to have total control over your body. Having said that, there is no doubt in my mind that the Supreme Court will never change their ruling on the issue. I don't vote based on one issue that I don't think will ever change.

I do vote based on Obama's socialistic policies. Take a basic economics course and you will see that his desire to "spread the wealth" is exactly that. Giving a tax return to 40% of the population that does not pay taxes is how he intends to do it. I grew up the daughter of a waitress and my husband grew up in the projects. I have had to work for everything I have which is not much. Don't sit there on the other side of a computer screen and assume that people who know that Obama has bad fiscal policies in mind are rich and have never had to struggle in their life.

Lets not forget we are not voting for SP to be President we are voting for McCain. The difference is in saying that you are voting for Biden and not Obama.

Hey White Lady (interesting name), we may think past our incomes and our needs and look to the needs of our country and the world. I don't make 250k but I agree with Joe the Plumber. Why should someone that does be penalized. Besides, smart people will just figure out more loopholes.

I am happy to see lots of intelligent women writing posts. Whatever your opinion, just make it based in fact. We all need to get out there and vote!

JUST MAKE SURE U ACTUALLY VOTE WITH AN OPEN MIND AND NOT LET COLOR, RACE, SEX, AGE, OR ANYTHING ELSE STEP IN THE WAY. LOOK AT YOUR INCOME AND YOUR SITUATION AND SEE WHICH CANDIDATE CAN REALLY HELP YOU! GOD BLESS

GREAT POST I just wish that america would vote with their head on this one and not the feel good message of change that Obama is trying to pass off. It may be change, but NOT for the good. I think that McCain/Palin would be Mavricks in the white house and yet you would have the check and balance that we need.

This is just crazy!!!!! How slanted can someone be??? If you are actually forming an educated opinion and NOT an emotional opinion, you would probably see that Obama/ Biden ticket is not a good one for our country. I should say that I actually did like Obama when he first came out. I am an independent. But I strongly feel that McCain is greater qualified than Obama, and that Obama and Palin are equally qualified if not Palin greater qualified. The one thing that is GREATLY concerning to anyone that has actually listened to this guy and learned, in detail, about his associations is that he could not and would not qualify for a top secret clearance to work for our government in any position. My husband recently went through this background investigation himself. And they deeply look at all the people that he has EVER had associations with. And one of the exact questions asked is if there was anyone that I knew of that could black male my husband? Well during this campaign and particulary with Obama I think that we as American citizens should ask this of him. And as far as Palin goes, I think that she is a greater woman than you could ever be, because she would not attack someone personally like this story does. I have really come to the conclusion that LIBERALS are so scared of this woman that they would get just down right mean and stray AWAY from any and all facts to blimish her record. Well I guess that we can even tell if Obama's record is blimished since he will not let anything from his Harvard years be leaked. HUMMMM... if he has nothing to hide then why can't anyone find anything from these years???? And he wants to be the next President of our FREE America???? And as far as for the Pro Choicers out there.... There are some women that believe in BOTH pro life and choice. I myself would NEVER have an abortion, except in incest or rape. However, I agree that the government should not have a right to decide this for every woman across the board. There should also be some checks and balances on the gov on this issue as well as the clinics that are issuing these abortions. I agree with one post that you should not waste a vote on this one issue alone. There are too many other things to be looking at and to help move our country forward and not weaken it's military and this will happen with Obama/Biden. If you don't believe me then ask my husband who has been in Afghanistan for 4 yrs or the majority of our military that say they would not consider serving if Obama is their Commander and Chief.

Hey former Alaskan! I didn't read any negative comments from Alaskan ladies, so I hope mine weren't misread. I can't say enough great things about our Gov. And I hadn't even mentioned all the money she gave back to us last month, only because I didn't want people thinking she bought my vote. But the $13K was much appreciated and needed for my family of 4 (which included the all time high state dividends). Just one more reason Palin rock's so hard. She's geniunely concerned with our well being.

Oh by the way, I find your topic's title offensive. Come on show a little class. You wouldn't Post: Yes, Obama has a D***K. So keep it nice and proper with your titles.

Don't like the post. Sound like a very embittered jealous comment to me. I'm from Alaska and I can tell you right now that alot of Alaskans are having a better economy then the rest of the country. Why? Because Sarah fought for those Alaskans. Part of the population may not be fond of her, but, I don't see those groups giving back the extra $1200.00 she pushed for. As far as being taken care of. She did. Don't deny the fact, ladies from Alaska, that you kept your little extra. You cannot argue that she does not have her state's best interest. Your petty nitpicking is just that. PETTY!!!
