Yes, Sarah Palin Has A Vagina.

I was supposed to be taking this week off from Mommy Track'd – you know, Labor Day and all – but then John McCain went and insulted me, and I’m just not the type who can take an insult lying down. So here I am, laboring away at my computer on a holiday weekend.

I watched the Democratic National Convention this past week with tears in my eyes almost the whole time. The first night, when Ted Kennedy spoke, I cried because of his strength, and his determination, but also because of his frailty, and the inescapable fact that one day soon, he and everything that he represents as a Kennedy, will be just another chapter of history. On the second night, when Hillary gave the speech of her career, I cried because of her grace, and because of an opportunity lost, and because of all that could have been. The next night, when Joe Biden took the stage, I cried for his tragedy, but I also cried for his triumphs. His love for and commitment to his children, his dedication to his constituency, and the sheer joy in his face as he reveled in the moment that he so clearly has always wanted. And then, on Thursday, when Barack Obama accepted the nomination, and delivered the speech that one commentator called “a symphony,” I cried for myself, and for every person in America who thought they would never live to see this day. But I also cried because of what he said, and how he said it, and how inspired it made me feel, and because I really do believe that he can change America, for the better. And at the end, when his family joined him on stage, and they looked just like a modern-day version of Camelot; when I realized that the Kennedy-era might not be coming to a close after all, but is instead being updated and reinvented for the times we live in now; when it all seemed to come full-circle…well, of course, I cried some more. And then I woke up Friday morning, and I saw that John McCain had picked Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, to be his running mate. And I laughed.

It makes sense why John McCain would pick a woman for a running mate. For one thing, it allows him to have a “historical” campaign, too. And of course, if you’re going to try to go after all of those still-undecided, bitter, Hillary Clinton supporters, what better way to woo them than with another woman who can fulfill the dream they thought they’d lost? But for me, that’s where the logic ends. Because the only thing that Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton have in common is that they both have vaginas. I mean, is John McCain serious? He thinks he can woo Hillary voters with a pro-life, gun-toting, anti-gay hockey mom whose political resume includes the PTA? Please. If John McCain really wanted to make history, there were a lot of women he could have chosen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson, of Texas. Christine Todd Whitman, of New Jersey. Even Carly Fiorina of Hewlett Packard or Meg Whitman of e-Bay would have been better choices. But instead, he chose a woman who couldn’t be less experienced. He chose a woman whom nobody has heard of. He chose a woman whom many will find it difficult to take seriously in an international, or even a national, arena.

Okay, I really hope you readers really come to the conclusion that this "journalist wannabe" is a bit loopy. Other than that, we also know that she can cry and laugh and make racist comments about John McCain, the old, white guy.

You know what I think? I think somebody's really jealous of an extremely beautiful, successful working mom! You bunch of liberal hypocrites! You talk about the "Wonder Woman-Working Moms" and yet you go telling the world that you think Palin can't do the mom/VP thing? Why don't you just go slapping your own self? You call her uneducated? Are you even smart enough to understand the meaning of that word? And you call her unappealing? Now, come on. Anyone with the gift of sight and half a brain can say that she is a woman of beauty. Leaving all the stupid secondary things aside, let's talk about something actually important, shall we? Have any of you abortion-loving women witnessed a partial-birth abortion, in all its gruesomeness? Maybe you should learn what really goes on in that doctor's office. It isn't the sight of freedom from something bad. We need to reach out to these people who have gone through this tragic, tragic event, and help them find the help they need to get through it. And you sick people support Obama who wants to "protect" your right to kill? (I think that rape is one of the most devastating things a woman can endure; however, why repay a sin with another sin and kill that innocent child? After all, it is still HALF your baby.) You same people would rather harbor poor Michael J. Fox, trembling in front of the camera, mad at Bush for not providing federal funding to kill an unborn child, all in the name of "research"? (Which, by the way, all you "educated" people out there would agree with me when we admit that the same stem cell can be harvested from the umbilical cord after delivering a healthy baby, without killing a baby as does an embryonic stem cell harvest. And, if you think an embryo isn't a baby, then why is it a felony to harm the egg of a bald eagle?) Back to our "Socialist" candidate Obama... Do you honestly think that he's just going to hand out all these tax breaks? What a liar. Answer me this: if he's going to hand you money, who's going to pay for all these "wonderful" governmental programs? Huh? The only role of the government was set up as this: to do for the Americans what they cannot do for themselves. Yes, I am talking about Social Security as well. Obama doesn't agree. My final rant for now: you say the only thing Sarah Palin and Hilary Clinton have in common is that they're both women, THANK THE GOOD LORD! Hilary's a scary lady, but I do appreciate the way she didn't show any support of Obama at her DNC speech! Fellow Republican moms, let's all stand behind Hilary just this once and show our "un"approval of Obama! Vote for a moral President & VP, Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin! God bless America!

PALIN - I suppose it is a good thing she has not been doing this for merely 9 weeks. She is the Governor of a country within a country. It offends me to think that there are women who believe I can be educated and do anything any other person can do, but maybe not so much if I have children. President Theodore Roosevelt had 6 children, but I don’t hear comments about his failure to put his country first. I think Todd will make a fine Mr. Mom AND don't get me started on cheating spouses. Hilary is doing quite well and she has former President Clinton for a husband. How many people really believe that things get accomplished in Alaska because their needs are being met out of DC? I applaud them because increasing government particularly on the Federal level does not mean increasing efficacy. I would venture to say Alaska is more prepared to deal with terrorism or any other crisis than any other state. It has never been on my radar that Alaska came to DC and said, can you pay for us to get through the winter? No, they take care of themselves and accept responsibility for the life they choose to live as opposed to someone who lives BELOW sea level, next to an ocean and is still dazed that their house is gone because a hurricane demolished it. Palin has done a stellar job putting the people’s tax dollars back to work where they belong instead of spending their money on frivolities. The great state of Alaska is truly unlike any other and Palin has done a bang up job for them. I think it is time for our tax dollars to go to something more than administrative expenses, red tape and feel good programs. Let's vote for people who actually accomplish something. Which takes me to . . .

OBAMA. This is his first term in the US Senate. It is hard to compare his voting record to McCain's or any other Senator’s because he very rarely takes a position on anything. If you missed that, he votes when he thinks the people will like the message, but if there is controversy. Oops, I do not have a position on that issue, I was out campaigning. My husband and I cried during Obama’s speech too. For the record, my other half struggled far more with his decision for President than I did. As Obama was speaking, hubby’s mouth dropped open, he started to lose color and said, “is he promoting Socialism”. I smiled as I knew he would hear the message throughout the campaign and I simply responded, “I can’t afford NOT to vote Republican”. Keep up with me here and do some reflecting. Corporations should definitely pay their fare share of taxes. However, those who are out of work, do you really think there is incentive for companies to create jobs when their tax expenditures go up? I see a whole lot of independent contracting with one man shows and part time employees. Good luck finding work and best wishes finding good benefits. By thw way, has anyone seen that birth certificate or any other records that will not be produced until he decides? And family, Obama’s family is beautiful, but there are 4 of them. Obama, Michelle and two darling daughters. Where do they come from? No really, in all the appearances, I have never seen their extended family participating. I love that they take care of themselves, or do they? Who is wagging the tail?

McCAIN – He is definitely not George Bush. Having spent several months working on US Senate committees in DC during the Session of 9/11 and having been an Arizona resident all of my life until 2-1/2 years ago, I can say McCain is different and is definitely NOT Bush. The majority of my time on the US Senate floor was watching McCain spend most of his time being open minded, left of center. When he co-sponsored bills, it was not uncommon for him to be the Republican co-sponsoring a bill with Democrats, Hilary in particular. His discussions were on both sides of the aisle and he made his decisions from there and not always to the GOP’s liking. The nice thing about the GOP is you don’t get 86’d for thinking a little differently than they would prefer. Lieberman had to move to a different ticket. Does anyone really think he is conservative? Nope, they just kicked him out.

BIDEN – Even he does not think his running mate is qualified. I particularly like how it seems the campaign tries to make certain he does not get noticed too much during these historic times. From what I experienced in the Senate, I actually do understand why, but it might be nice if Obama’s ticket were something other than the incredibly charismatic, handsome Obama and “that other guy”. They did not pick Hilary as she has just enough political power that they could not have kept her entirely quiet. Just listen and actually pay attention to what she had to say during her speech at the DNC. Was she really promoting Obama or was she smiling and very tactfully being bitter? My TV was delivering bitter, not a ‘bit o’ honey’.

Best wishes voting! Whatever happens, can we get an order of personal responsibility, maybe even a side dish?

All I have to say is that a mere 9 weeks ago, Sarah Palin had absolutely no ambition to be VP, let alone President. Up until then, she hasn't been thinking about world issues, let alone US issues, and how she would handle them. There are far too many issues affecting the U.S. today [economy, foreign policy, war, education, energy, housing crisis, international trade, our relationships with other countries (whether our allies or enemies), etc., etc., etc.] for someone to have thought about and have opinions on in 9 weeks. I don't care if you've been the governor of Alaska or a stay-at-home mom of 5 kids, or both. And, in the past 9 weeks, it's impossible to study up on all of these issues while campaigning, sending a son off to war, caring for a 6 month old special needs child, a pregnant teenager, and 2 other children. McCain, Obama, and Biden have AT LEAST been thinking about these issues. Do we want just another figurehead in the White House? I don't think so. Look what good that's done us these past 8 years. OBAMA/BIDEN 08. BYE-BYE BUSH BABY.

I thought in the light of our conversation regarding gov Palin's qualifications I'd add some impressive credentials to the post. I verified this information with some of our military forces here in Alaska. Most important to note is that gov Palin, is unique in her roll here... no other gov deals with issues of National security or has the responsibility to respond to a national crisis. As her position dictates she has more experience and government clearance than anyone running for president or VP, and in truth most of Washington. She not just another politician.

What is America 's first line of missile interceptor defense that protects the entire United States ?
*49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard.
What is the ONLY National Guard unit on permanent active duty?
*49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard
Who is the Commander in Chief of the 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard?
*Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska
What U.S. governor is routinely briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter terrorism?
*Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska
What U.S. governor has a higher classified security rating than either candidate of the Democrat Party?
*Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska
According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.
She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

Based on the previous statements, I think she’s got more qualifications and experience that most people giver her credit for. I think there is no better person to be “a heart beat away from the presidency”. She takes all the garbage thrown at her in stride, she is not Hillary, not Obama, not McCain, or any other "type". She’s her own woman, like we all should be. She's proven that she can cross the political boundaries to non-partisan-ship. She will be an asset wherever she serves, government or otherwise. And if she and McCain don't win, Alaska will be just as happy to keep her here. ;)

So I suppose you think having a teenage pregnant daughter is a better message to send???
And what if a woman is raped or a victim of incest, is she making a choice to have sex then???? That is a ridiculous argument you are trying to make. And Obama is NOT a socialist, you are obviously repeating the deceptive rhetoric you heard from the McCain campaign. The republicans have done a great job with the economy so far (that is sarcasm, if you didn't pick up on that), maybe they didn't take that basic economics course you were talking about.

Sarah Palin is an unpolished, uneducated, unapealling, ignoramus. She would make an awful VP (if she could ever figure out what a VP does). Pah-lease, she is a joke. It amazes me that some people actually like her. I guess it goes to show you how naive and misinformed some Americans are.

i don't think john mccain was ever trying to woo clinton supporters. how would that be possible? because mccain/paulin actually have morals. it is so sad that you were in tears during the dem convention. let's vote based on the facts...vote on what is best for our country...not on our emotions. or what makes us "feel good." if obama does win...i have a feeling you'll be crying soon for other reasons.

I agree with this article 100%. Oh and emma Palin attacks Obama personally on a daily basis! Yea she doesn't believe in abortion but hey if it has 4 legs lets kill it! Oh and lets take our kids along for family fun and take pictures with all the dead animals! I like her office too, nothing but fur and dead animals, COOL!
