Yes, Sarah Palin Has A Vagina.

I was supposed to be taking this week off from Mommy Track'd – you know, Labor Day and all – but then John McCain went and insulted me, and I’m just not the type who can take an insult lying down. So here I am, laboring away at my computer on a holiday weekend.

I watched the Democratic National Convention this past week with tears in my eyes almost the whole time. The first night, when Ted Kennedy spoke, I cried because of his strength, and his determination, but also because of his frailty, and the inescapable fact that one day soon, he and everything that he represents as a Kennedy, will be just another chapter of history. On the second night, when Hillary gave the speech of her career, I cried because of her grace, and because of an opportunity lost, and because of all that could have been. The next night, when Joe Biden took the stage, I cried for his tragedy, but I also cried for his triumphs. His love for and commitment to his children, his dedication to his constituency, and the sheer joy in his face as he reveled in the moment that he so clearly has always wanted. And then, on Thursday, when Barack Obama accepted the nomination, and delivered the speech that one commentator called “a symphony,” I cried for myself, and for every person in America who thought they would never live to see this day. But I also cried because of what he said, and how he said it, and how inspired it made me feel, and because I really do believe that he can change America, for the better. And at the end, when his family joined him on stage, and they looked just like a modern-day version of Camelot; when I realized that the Kennedy-era might not be coming to a close after all, but is instead being updated and reinvented for the times we live in now; when it all seemed to come full-circle…well, of course, I cried some more. And then I woke up Friday morning, and I saw that John McCain had picked Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, to be his running mate. And I laughed.

It makes sense why John McCain would pick a woman for a running mate. For one thing, it allows him to have a “historical” campaign, too. And of course, if you’re going to try to go after all of those still-undecided, bitter, Hillary Clinton supporters, what better way to woo them than with another woman who can fulfill the dream they thought they’d lost? But for me, that’s where the logic ends. Because the only thing that Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton have in common is that they both have vaginas. I mean, is John McCain serious? He thinks he can woo Hillary voters with a pro-life, gun-toting, anti-gay hockey mom whose political resume includes the PTA? Please. If John McCain really wanted to make history, there were a lot of women he could have chosen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson, of Texas. Christine Todd Whitman, of New Jersey. Even Carly Fiorina of Hewlett Packard or Meg Whitman of e-Bay would have been better choices. But instead, he chose a woman who couldn’t be less experienced. He chose a woman whom nobody has heard of. He chose a woman whom many will find it difficult to take seriously in an international, or even a national, arena.

leslie you are right about that and Carter was one of the worst presidents of all time!!!
quote someone worthy like Reagen " We are One nation under God. When we forget that we are One nation gone under!" This nation was founded on christian principles and that is why we have been the most blessed nation on earth ever! If Obama becomes president him and Muslim beliefs will destroy us!

That is your biggest concern? By the way the President does not pay the VP.

MrsLuzier... I am well aware of the difference between racism and sexism. Shamom references both in her post. This election has nothing to do with whether Obama is black or Palin is a woman. It has everything to do with the well being of our country. I personally don't think Obama is the answer. That is the beauty of our country... we can say what we think (for now anyway).

Dear URDEADWRONG, Being prejudice against someone of a different race is called being racist. Being against someone of a certain sex is called being sexist. Just thought you might like to know.

Shamom... I CANNOT tell you how angry I am that you pulled the race card!!!!! Your post makes my blood boil!! And just so you know, you sound like the racist one!!! "Sarah Palin is an embarrassment to women". Please elaborate on that statement... Would love to hear WHY she is an embarrassment to women... That is a bold statement and you don't give a reason to back it up. You may not agree with her politics but at least recognize she has been an excellent Governor. Do you even know anything about her? Or are you just watching the liberal media that has painted her as an idiot?? Do a little research and you will see that she is much more qualified as a VP than Obama is as President. What EXACTLY has he done???????????????? Please tell us all... we are dying to know. As much as you want to pull the race card, this election doesn't boil down to that. It boils down to the future of our children. We pay ENOUGH taxes... let the government live on a budget for a change!!! You talk about your ancestors who fought and bled for us... well, some of us have real living relatives who are fighting for YOU and YOUR KIDS right NOW. And we don't give a rat's ass what color you are!!!!!!!!!!! Geeezzzz, have a little respect....

It is interesting how everyone sees what they want to see about the candidate of their choice. I respect that and enjoy all of the conversations that have come from this election. However, as a wife, mom of 2, a doctor and professor, Sarah Palin is an embarrassment to women. And some of you are so racist or blind, you would support Elmo or a Sarah Palin ticket before voting for a black man even if he has proven throughout his career that he is the better presidential candidate (sorry Elmo - you are much smarter than she has shown to be). Senator McCain can't even control his campaign officials in their bad-mouthing of Sarah Palin. Come on people - everyone knows he made a bad choice and has ruined the Republican ticket with the Palin choice on top of his own shortcomings. My question for all of you who support her - after 8 years of some of the worst American policies in our history, why would you chose another mediocre ticket to run our beautiful country? Don't you want a president like Senator Obama that represents the best of who we are as a people -educated, diplomatic and shows concern for America AND the world? Why in the world would you want another minute of the Republican regime that has set us so far back, my toddler may have to pay in her adults years for all the "Bush mistakes". If you talk to an economist, both candidates will have to revise their tax plans to get us out of the mess Bush got us into. My solution for all of you Palin supporters - get passed the Democratic/Republican party support and vote for your country on Tuesday by voting for the Obama/Biden ticket. If not, another option for you - on Tuesday, when the Republican ticket LOSES, plan to move to Alaska to be governed by Mrs. Palin - where many of you believe the "real" Americans live. As an African-American woman, with all the division and anger supported by the Republican machine, I have never felt closer to my ancestors and their time in history who fought and bled so that ALL PEOPLE could live freely in this country. And just in case you want to know, if Senator Obama was green, I would still be voting for him.

For Rosedavid: alot of ranting....but nothing of substance...such as WHY you think Palin is a good choice!

THANK YOU! You said it URDEADWRONG. It horrifies me that Obama and Biden get to selectively answer or change the question with their answer when they don't want to actually address a subject. I did note in my thesis below that they don't really ever let Biden talk. Coincidence? I don't think so. Will all the logical thinking, sane people please go to the polls. I already turned in my ballot and at this juncture, I am ready to get back to E.D. & tampon commercials. Never thought I would say that!

Ladies... please start thinking LOGICALLY!! Obama just kicked The Washington Times off his plane... they have been on his plane since the beginning. Now they endorse McCain and they are shut out. The Obama campaign cancels all future interviews with a FL news station b/c Biden was asked some tough and fair questions. IF THIS BEHAVIOR DOESN'T RAISE A BIG GINORMOUS WHITE FLAG WITHIN YOUR BRAIN, THERE IS A PROBLEM!!! Last time I checked, this is the United States of America where we have freedom of speech. Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro censor the press. If this is a sneak peek at what we can expect from an Obama/Biden administration, we have alot to be afraid of. We are heading down a very bad road...
