Percentage of Working Moms Around 71 Percent.
About 71 percent of moms were in the workforce in 2006, according to a recent report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s a little less than the peak of 72.3 percent of moms who were working in 2000, The Kansas City Star reported. Here’s a sample of how last year’s stats broke down: 68.6 percent of married mothers were employed. 76.6 percent of unmarried (single, divorced, widowed) mothers were working. 56.1 percent of moms with children under 1 year old were in the workforce. 6.5 percent of married couples had solely a wife drawing a paycheck.
