New York Times writer Leslie Kaufman said that for 10 years she worked hard to make sure that despite putting in long hours, she would still get healthy, homemade meals on the table.
Of making meals for her family of four, Kaufman wrote: "The achievement is a bit of a wonder to my peers. So many of them struggle to eat dinner together, often waiting until the last minute to boil pasta and toss it with store-bought sauce or, more likely, dining on the leftover macaroni and cheese the babysitter fed the children." Kaufman’s article offered several suggestions on how to accomplish this feat, with planning and not too much culinary effort. (July 2007)
