MomsRising: Tapping Working Mothers' Angst

The New York Times [1] ran a feature story this past week about a new advocacy group, MomsRising [2], which, although it has only been around since last May, already has 80,000 members. The group seeks to improve the situation for working moms in America by promoting family-friendly legislation (like paid maternity leave) and work policies (flex-time). The New York Times said those promoting and joining the MomsRising movement are women who, while taught that girls can do anything, found that once they became moms they "faced many of the same pay, equity and work-family balance issues that were being fought over decades before. From that awakening, they say, has come the inkling of a new movement."
