Meet Sheryl Clark, one of the all time coolest moms we know. She is Old Navy's Executive Vice-President of Merchandising. Sheryl gets to decide what products make it into Old Navy stores each season. Sheryl lives in the Bay Area with her very progressive artist/stay-at-home husband John and her ten year old daughter Madison.
We asked Madison to describe her mom. She says "[m]y mom is stylish, cool and amazing and a good role model." High praise -- what more could any mom want?
Describe Your Work Schedule.
I work five days a week from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm at Gap Inc. Headquarters in San Francisco. I travel for one week every couple of months. I have about ten weeks of vacation a year and I take them all.
Would You Work If You Could Afford To Stay Home?
Yes, I would do something fun and cool with my husband. I think I would be too bored at home without working.
Who Watches Madison After School?
My husband is an artist and his studio is in our home so he watches Madison when she gets home from school. John takes Madison to Soccer, Skateboarding, Softball -- he does it all.
Describe Your Worst Working Mom Moment.
Madison's school called me on my cell phone. She needs to be picked up because she had a bad skateboarding accident and needs to go to the emergency room. I had to tell them to call her father because I was in Dallas on a business trip.
That one will haunt me for a while.
Do You Take Madison To Work?
Yes, she loves coming to Old Navy. She is proud of my job and tells me often that she thinks what I do is "cool." I have overheard her tell her friends that she thinks I have a great job -- it doesn't get better than that.
What Do You Think Makes A Good Mother?
Love, patience, a sense of humor and balance.
What Accomplishments Are You Most Proud Of?
Madison, 17 years of marraige and my career.
What Is Your Guiltiest Pleasure? Do You Ever Have Time For It?
I definitely get facials, pedicures, manicures and go shopping -- but I learned early on to make these activities group fun. Madison has been getting monthly manicures since she was about 3. It is expensive, but fun for us to do together -- I get to treat myself and spend time with her.
What Are Three Adjectives That Best Describe You?
Fast, organized and fun.
If You Were A Superhero, What Powers Would You Have?
Speed and juggling, of course.
