Feel like you're seeing double lately? It might not be your eyesight - there are more set of twins being born in America than previous decades!
“One in every 30 babies born in the U.S. is a twin - an astounding increase over the last three decades,” the Wall Street Journal reported . “… In 1980, only 1 in every 53 babies was a twin.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one reason for the increase is that more women are having babies later in life along with assisted reproductive technology.
“As much as a third of the increase [in twin births] can be attributed” to the rising number of women over the age of 30 having twins, the article claimed, crediting two-thirds of the increase with the rise in fertility treatment.
What do you think? Are more of your friends and family members having twins?
