Stuck in a dinner rut and looking for something fun and fast for dinner? Celebrate the Hot Dog! Have a family cookout just to celebrate the hot dog. Pick a theme and select different fixin’s as appropriate. Have a hot dog theme night every week until the end of summer – and have the family vote on the best one.
- Have a German themed featuring Bratwurst and Sauerkraut – don’t forget the beer!
- Try a southwest theme and cover the hot dog in chilies, avocado, and top it with melted cheese. There is probably a variety of pickle that is spicy that would be a good accompaniment to this theme.
- Get creative - have kids decorate their hot dogs before eating using the condiments on hand. May the best artiste win!
- You can’t go wrong with basic Americana – chicken dog with ketchup, mustard, onions and chili.
