Thoughts on Modern-Day Bullying.

When we think of the word “bully,” we usually have a specific image pop into our heads, and we’d think that all that can be said about bullying has already been examined, but ParentDish has two articles out that defy that stereotype.

The first, When Your Child is the Bully considers the notion that perhaps parents enjoy it when their children are feared rather than being one of those kids being picked on. While some parents feel fear or shame, others might be secretly glad that their son or daughter isn’t at the bottom of the pecking order.

The second article is sensitive in the arena of gay-marriage debates and “queering the census:” half of youth who identify as LGBT say they are bullied online. While some think of online as a “safe space,” it most definitely isn’t for those who find these prejudices. Cyberbullying is much more difficult to identify or to fight than the traditional playground variety.
