"I don't [really talk to my kids about my work]. I haven't had to.
I just say, 'Mommy's going to work,' and they know that my work somehow involves a trailer. But when I played Joanne Herring, we had done some portraits of me, copying pictures of Joanne, to use around her house. So I brought home this picture of me in this emerald-green gown, and I have these big diamonds on and the nails and the whole thing. The picture was sitting on the dining-room table, and Finn and Hazel came to dinner, and Hazel said, 'Oh, look at that picture. Cuckoo Mommy.' I couldn't believe she even knew it was me."

My daughter used to cry when I would put my high heel shoes on to go to work. I didn't know how to tell her why I worked. I looked for a book to explain to her and couldn't find one. On her 3rd birthday she got a princess dress up kit and instead of trying on the little high heel dress up shoes & tiara and saying she was Cinderella, she clomped around the living room and said, "Bye Mom! I'm going to work!". The next day I wrote my book: Mommy's High Heel Shoes! She is almost 4 now and I am just happy to be a positive role model for her everyday.

What a great idea. I have just been dumped after 8yrs and have been thinking of ideas to ease the transition for my 3yr old (girl).
I like that one. DeeDee
