CNN/ESPN Writer to Parents: Mom- and Dad-Up and Control Your Kiddos in Public.
Pleading with parents whose children throw temper tantrums in public to deal with these children and keep them from disturbing others, writer LZ Granderson said on CNN’s web site: “Children are wonderful but they are not the center of the universe. The sooner their parents make them understand that, the better off we will all be.”
Blaming parents who fail to discipline or who bring their children to inappropriate venues for igniting some people’s anti-kid ire, Granderson said, “The ugly truth is it’s the spineless parents who parade their undisciplined children around like royalty that make people dislike kids.”
“As a parent, I can empathize with how difficult raising children can be,” he continued, “. . . But I don’t believe making a child’s wishes top priority is a demonstration of love. Nor do I believe I, or the rest of the world, should act as a surrogate parent for somebody’s bad-a*& kids.”
