Newest GOP Presidential Candidate: A Former At-Home Mom of Five, Foster Mom to 23.

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota), who plans to announce her candidacy for president next week, started her political career because she was unhappy with the public school system, the New York Times  reported, adding that she worked as a Treasury Department attorney “until her fourth child was born” and then she left the workforce.  “. . . [A] look at her life here [in Minnesota] shows that it was her role as a mother, both to her biological children and to her adolescent foster daughters, that spurred her to seek public office.” Bachmann has five biological children, ages 17-29, and had 23 foster children, the Times said.
